At Pro-Seal, we believe in American industry. We’ve been supporting that industry since 1987, when we first took off as a fluid sealing distributor for some of the hardest working men and machines in the Midwest. Since then, we’ve expanded our product offerings and our operating areas from our Michigan beginnings to cover the Great Lakes Region, all of Alaska and just about everywhere in between. Now, we’re a one-stop shop for pumping systems, mechanical seals, industrial lubricants, and engineered solutions.

More than anything, we pride ourselves on the collective 200 years our hands-on team brings to each and every solution, big or small. We pay the same attention to bead blasting a cartridge seal as we do to purposefully designing, building, and installing environmental control systems for mechanical seals. We delight in matching customers with perfect prefab pumping systems, training personnel, and consulting with new industrial partners on the right equipment for the right job. Bruce McCartney

President and Managing Director

One of four founding partners of ProSeal, Bruce began his career with the U.S. Air Force, served in Vietnam, as an Explosive Ordinance disposal technician. Served nine years and earned several decorations then concluded his service with an honorable discharge in 1978.

Bruce started his career with sealing devices at Anchor Packing in 1978. With the eventual sale of Anchor Packing in 1987 Bruce and three other partners founded the ProSeal Service Group company. During Bruce’s management tenure, ProSeal has quadrupled sales and received numerous top awards; The AES “Top Producing Distributor,” The Prestigious “Peter Dunand" award, Royal Purple’s “Top Producing Award,” and The Daimler Chrysler Award of engineering excellence. Bruce also oversaw the addition of many key ProSeal employees and products. In 1998 Bruce started the ProSeal mechanical seal repair center that today is one of the most complete seal repair centers in the USA. In 2003 with the hiring of Rob Schmitt, added a full pump sales and service capability to ProSeal. “The Vision” was to establish a complete best practice rotating equipment reliability service company. ProSeal has been in business since 1987 and continues to experience growth year after year. The vision” lives!

Bruce serves as a consultant to AES Seal and is past President of the Burgmann Seal Distributor counsel.

Robert Schmitt

Pump Sales and Service Managing Director

Rob joined ProSeal in September of 2003 and launched ProSeal’s pump sales and service department with the goal of becoming the region’s top distributor of pumps and most capable pump and rotating equipment repair center.

Rob’s career began as a floor sweep at a municipal pump repair shop in Pontiac, MI in 1985. He has held nearly every position that exists in an industrial distribution and repair company including machinist, mechanic, field service technician, project manager and finally sales and management.

In 1995, Rob moved into industrial and commercial pump sales as a Division Manager for a very large, multi-disciplined industrial distribution company in Livonia, MI. His group grew sales more than seven fold during the first four years, eventually employing 10 people in sales and service. Rob was recognized with a “Salesman of the Year” award from one of his principal manufacturers. A dedication to both sales and service remained a hallmark of his organization.

In 2003, Mr. Schmitt reconnected with long-time business associate Bruce McCartney to create the most comprehensive pump and seal repair facility in the region. Rob’s primary area of responsibility is oversight of the pump distribution and service efforts at ProSeal Service Group in the Midwest and Alaska. This is accomplished through direct contact with the customers along with networking through the other ProSeal salesman.

Rob has dedicated his entire professional life to pumps and rotating equipment. He attended Oakland Community College in the business management program with additional classes in electrical and mechanical engineering. Rob has held numerous positions on distributor councils and continues to attend trainings to stay current on industry developments.

October 1987

ProSeal Service group was incorporated. A classic fluid, sealing, mechanical packing and distribution company, ProSeal started with five employees working from Southeastern Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

 

1992

Partnering with Royal Purple, the industry leader in synthetic industrial lubricants, ProSeal SG began offering high quality lubricants for pumps, gear boxes, mechanical seal barrier fluids and more. Today, ProSeal SG is the worldwide leader in Royal Purple distribution.

 

1995

As the company continued to expand, new facilities were purchased in Madison Heights, Michigan.

The addition of industrial spray nozzles and accessories by Delavan Inc. to the ProSeal SG line of product distribution.

1997

ProSeal officially engaged AES Seal with a distribution agreement for Michigan.

 

2000

ProSeal partners decided the time was right to add ‘Services’ to the list of product offerings. The ProSeal Mechanical Seal Refurbishment Center was opened.

 

2001

With the Alaska business growing, the Alaska Branch office was opened with 2 Alaska employees.

2002

For innovation, ProSeal was awarded the Daimler Chrysler Five Star award.

 

2003

A pattern of service and supply was developing at ProSeal and it became apparent ProSeal needed to enter the “Pump” industry. By hiring (3) pump experts with over 60 years of experience in distribution and pump service, ProSeal entered the pumping world. Key distribution agreements were signed with pump manufacturers I/R ARO and Summit Pump.

2005

Again requiring more space and a centralized location, ProSeal moved its HQ to Automation Alley, Pontiac/Auburn Hills. The newly constructed 26,500 sq foot facility provided the much needed space and handling capabilities for the pump division.

2006

ProSeal added to British Petroleum approved supplier list for seal repair. ProSeal is one of only two companies in Alaska on the Approved Supply List.

ProSeal opens 6000 sq foot facility in Kenai, Alaska. The facility includes warehousing, full mechanical seal and pump repair.

 

2007

ProSeal, grown to 40 employees, celebrated its 20th year in business. Top AES seal distribution company in USA.

Top Royal Purple distribution company in North America since 1998.

 

2008

Top AES seal distribution company in North America.

 

2013

Hired an industry specialist to cover power generation.

 

2013

Expanded the Kenai, Alaska facility to allow for increased business.

 

2014

Acquired NorthStar Metal Craft for fabrication, prototyping and engineered fluid handling systems manufacturing.

 

2017

ProSeal Service Group celebrates its 30th anniversary.
